The British Association of Cleaning in Higher Education, known to its friends as BACHE, will be holding its Annual Conference and Exhibition at Keele University from Tuesday 15th to 17th June. During the event, the Albany team will be available to discuss the company’s higher education hygiene programme and washroom solutions, of which a free hygiene audit is a key component.
The hygiene programme and audit have been developed in consultation with Dr. Ron Cutler, Senior Microbiologist at Queen Mary, University of London. The audit enables Albany to evaluate universities’ current practices, discuss their hygiene needs and provide tailored recommendations for improvement.
Many people simply do not realise that both bacteria and viruses can live on surfaces, particularly hard work surfaces, for anything between 12 hours and several days, depending on the organism and the conditions it encounters. Dirty hands put potentially killer pathogens on door handles, finger plates, tables, benches, and work surfaces every day of our lives. People get infected with those pathogens every day too.
Stopping that happening is not easy. Only three people in a hundred clean their hands with soap and water after visiting the lavatory. Even very bright people frequently disregard matters of simple hygiene as not being relevant to them. So what do you do about it?
Albany is working with higher education and health professionals nationwide to provide solutions to the problems that spread infectious disease in universities, colleges and schools. Albany provides its customers with hygiene consultancy services, offering advice on sustainable washroom design, maintenance and education.
Hygiene education, effective hygiene management and innovative washroom equipment are the best ways to break the chain of infection and stop the spread of disease in universities and colleges. Adopting measures to improve hygiene and protect students and staff will ultimately reduce the number of teaching days lost each year to avoidable illness.
You will be able to find us on stand 3 at the BACHE conference. Alternatively, you can visit http://www.albanyfacilities.com or call 0870 366 5777 for further information surrounding our hygiene services and education programme.
We look forward to seeing you all there!
